Bruce Bacon, MD

Dr. Bruce Bacon is Co-Director of the renowned Saint Louis University Liver Center — a Center of Excellence in research and treatment of liver diseases. With extensive experience in all aspects of clinical hepatology, his areas of expertise include hepatitis C and B, cirrhosis, liver transplantation, and hemochromatosis. He specializes in evaluation and management of the causes of liver disease.

Dr. Bacon uses state-of-the-art treatments for hepatitis C, and is interested in research into new therapies for chronic hepatitis C. His research studies also include viral hepatitis.

Dr. Bacon is a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He holds the James F. King, M.D. Endowed Chair in Gastroenterology.

In 2010, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases honored him with their Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the development of hepatology as a distinct discipline.
